Strike a Pose

Little-to-no news of late, so I present to you... a selection of photographs demonstrating Basil and Parsley's ability to look handsome / stupid / really stupid...

The end.

All Change!

My apologies for the barren blog here of late. In my defence, we've been rather busy selling our flat and moving out of London, not to mention the small matter of my best friend getting married, so updating this has been rather far from my mind. Also, we seem to have sacrificed our camera cable to the Gods of Moving, so haven't been able to download any photos for months. Bummer.

Anyway, new camera cable in hand, and new home settled into, I am ready to get back on it.

As you might expect Basil and Parsley are delighted with their new abode. Having moved from a 4th floor flat on a busy main road in Hackney to a 2-bed Victorian terrace in backwater Bishop's Stortford, they are definitely feeling the benefits. The main one being... STAIRS!! Best thing ever! They've spent hours chasing up and down them all day (and all night of course), and ambushing each other (and me) from the upstairs landing. Great times.

We also have a wee garden here, though I haven't screwed up the courage to let them outside unsupervised yet. Partly because I am far too maternal towards them and can't shake the idea that something b.a.d will happen to them, partly because we're hoping to buy soon and so move again and I don't want them to start 'homing' here... But mainly, because Basil and Parsley are a pair of absolute idiots and are most likely to try and make friends with everyone and everything they see and get run over within approx. 17 seconds of being let outside. They have had some lovely strolls around with their jackets on though, in which they still look very fetching.

Not much else happening for the boys. They had their first week away from us staying chez Drurys up in Oxfordshire, whilst we had a lovely holiday in Copenhagen. B&P had a wonderful time and (I suspect) ran everyone ragged / kept everyone up all night with their incessant miaowing, but my dear family-in-law are too polite to say so.

Enough rambling, let's cut to the action. No real theme to the pics here, just a selection from the last few months.

More soon, promise.

I remember when there was room to spare in this bed...

The three laziest members of the household (yes, the third one is me)...

And for no good reason, other than I like it, an Instagram pic of me and a miniature donkey - so cute! Not me, the donkey, obviously...

P.S. Just trotted downstairs mid-blog to put the laundry on (ooh my Friday nights, they're legendary), and witnessed the truly repugnant sight of Basil eating a MASSIVE fly. That was gross. Almost enough to put me off my dinner, if it wasn't stuffed-crust pizza that is (awesome).

Instagram Cats

My other half recently discovered a new 'sweet app'. And look, it allows us to take these lovely shots of B&P! I'm loving the whimsical, slightly pretentious mood they evoke. Don't the boys look handsome?

I've kept them small on here as the effect is kind of lost when you blow them up bigger...

Resolutions

Happy New Year!

Basil and Parsley have declined to come up with their own resolutions, so I have decided to do it for them. Accompanied by a picture of them each trying to get into the festive spirit. We had to do away with the decorations this year, as the boys seemed to think that Christmas trees are for fighting with, rather than looking at.

Basil:
- Stop jabbing mummy in the face at 5 o'clock in the morning just to get attention.
- Stop trying to eat every piece of food I see, regardless of who's dinner it actually is.

Parsley:
- Try to spend slightly less time yelling at the top of my lungs for no particular reason, especially whilst all the humans are still asleep.
- Stop trying to jump bodily into the fridge every single time someone opens the door.

We've had an excellent Christmas. B&P enjoyed their second roadtrip of the year, this time to Oxfordshire. There, they had a wonderful time scampering up and down stairs (a new experience), and aside from an awkward moment where they started stalking a 10-month-old nephew like he was prey, they generally charmed the family. Photos to follow I hope.

In other news, Basil has actually learned to fetch. No, really. A video to follow if we can catch him at it. B&P have an excellent knack of stopping whatever cute/amusing/stupid thing they're doing as soon as I reach for the camera - saboteurs! All I've been able to capture lately is...

Parsley, obviously really impressed with me taking his picture at dinnertime:

Basil, looking (to be honest), a little bit fat:
